    Thank You South Australia

    Thank You South Australia

    Easter Spirit exceeds Targets!

The SAMFS World Police & Fire Games Club would like to thank you for your kind generosity in supporting the 2017/18 South Australian Firefighters Calendar.

In conjunction with TeamKids - the fundraising platform for the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation, 100% of all proceeds made from our calendar sales in Rundle Mall over the Christmas period were elected to be donated to support the Burns Unit at the Women's and Children's Hospital right here in Adelaide.

Members of the SAMFS WPFG Club were fortunate enough to attend the TeamKids Easter Appeal which was held on Good Friday, 14 April 2017, and were extremely thrilled to present a cheque for $20,120.00. This contribution has helped to reach a tally in excess of their $1 million target, with the current tally of funds pledged at $1,587,337!

Funds raised from all other organisations as part of this year’s Appeal will also go towards a range of projects including the TeamKids Arts in Health program, a purpose built and fully furnished Beach House in Victor Harbor for use by families with a child requiring palliative care or with complex care needs, and a revolutionary new cancer research project known as CAR-T.
There were so many highlights this year and TeamKids are overwhelmed by the generosity of the South Australian community, the talented performers, and volunteers who gave up their time over Easter to support this important cause. In 2017, for the first time they enlisted the help of six Young Ambassadors who co-hosted the Appeal. Clara, Lauren, Jessica, Tara, Josh and Jordan are all ex-patients of the Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH).

The SAMFS WPFG Club would like to Thank You again for your contribution, whether through the purchase of our Calendar or other avenues, making this years’ Easter Appeal such a success. Your gift will help change the lives of thousands of women, babies and children who rely on the Hospital every year.
You can still purchase your copy of the 2017/18 South Australian Firefighters Calendar online or at any Drakes Foodland Supermarket, or donate directly to TeamKids by following the prompts on our Donations page.

The SAMFS WPFG Club Inc. and Drakes Supermarkets have partnered up to strengthen the support behind local South Aussies.

The company’s strength lies in operating on the principles of a family business and supporting local manufacturers and suppliers. Drakes Supermarkets has kept its focus on the important aspects of the business. THE CUSTOMER. This is the company’s competitive edge, along with its family values and Australian heritage.

The "Hall of Flame" calendar is 100% a South Australian Product. We utilise/support local SA small businesses in all areas involved to create the calendar and running of the club - from local photographers and graphic designers, to leading South Australian printers, point of sale suppliers, production specialists and other supporting companies. With this in mind it was a no-brainer that these two organisations share similar values and so we have teamed with Drakes Supermarkets to further our commitment to the State and make the community aware they are supporting real South Australians and a Charity located on home soil - TeamKids, the fundraising platform for the Women's and Children's Hospital (Paediatric Burns Service) in SA.

We're thrilled to officially be partnered with Drakes Supermarkets to be the first large supply chain to sell the SA Firefighters Calendar. We can't be happier, to be represented & supported by a World Class Retailer - it just goes to show that Drakes is more than just a supermarket... They're the TRUE Mighty South Aussies that believe in helping to grow SA's own and to ensure a brighter future for all South Australia!

It's all for charity in Rundle Mall!

Throughout the month of December, the SAMFS World Police & Fire Games Club have been selling the 2017/18 South Australian Firefighters Calendar in Rundle Mall.

Shoppers were lucky enough to be greeted by some of our calendar boys and girls, with many taking the opportunity to get their calendars signed and sneak in a quick selfie or two!

The SAMFS World Police & Fire Games Club were keen to spread the festive spirit this Christmas and give back to the community in a big way. So, in conjunction with TeamKids - the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation, 100% of all proceeds made from calendar sales in Rundle Mall will be donated to support the Burns Unit at the Women's and Children's Hospital right here in Adelaide.

Thank you to everyone who visited us in Rundle Mall this Christmas, your ongoing support for such a great cause is sincerely appreciated. And for those who received the 2017/18 SA Firefighters Calendar from Santa or Kris Kringle, we hope it put a smile on your face. New laser technology to help WCH burns patients

On Thursday 15th September 2016, members of the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation and the World Police and Fire Games Club joined TeamKids - Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation at the launch of the new 'Lumenis Ultra Pulse CO2 Laser' at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The laser was purchased for the Burns Service thanks to funding by the Australian Professional Fire Fighters Foundation ($105,000) and the World Police and Fire Games Club ($45,000) and will allow burns patients at the WCH access to advanced laser technology for the treatment of burns scars.

The Laser will help reduce thick scars from severe burns and is expected to significantly reduce the rate of operations and contracture associated with burns scars.

Head of the Burns Service at the WCH, Bernard Carney, is excited that the WCH can offer children this therapy in a public hospital setting.

“Over the last five years, the WCH Burns Service has seen an increase in the number of major burns in very young children who will consequently require up to 17 years of ongoing medical treatment,” Mr Carney said.

“The laser will improve the appearance of burns scars for these children and lessen the hardening of affected skin tissue, helping to make healing a quicker and less painful experience.”

The Ultra Pulse Laser can penetrate scar tissue more deeply than other CO2 lasers, and can therefore treat scars that were previously thought to be untreatable by laser therapy.

It works by making microscopic holes in existing scar tissue and stimulating wound healing over and over again. This process eventually remodels the burns scar and makes it softer and more pliable.

“It is also hoped that with ongoing laser treatment, burns patients will experience improved mobility as well as enhanced cosmetic appearance,” Mr Carney said.

The Foundation is proud to have collaborated with the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation and the World Police and Fire Games Club to support and recognise their incredible fundraising efforts.

    Calendar Launch Testimonials

Here are some glowing reviews from the 2017/18 South Australian Firefighters Calendar Launch that was held on Friday 12th August, 2016.

“The SA Firies calendar launch is such an entertaining and enjoyable night. The hard work and big smiles by all involved on the night, looked naturally effortless. The addition of the two female Firies this year added to the variety of the acts. Knowing that the funds raised on the night go to a very good cause, makes the night all the more enjoyable and worthwhile. Definitely recommend it to everyone."

    Jessica Wylie (Brooks)

"As part of the Fire Service Family I would like to congratulate the team on a well presented and entertaining calendar launch."

Trish Ireland (Fire Service Credit Union)

"The SA Firefighters 'Hall of Flame' Calendar launch night is the hottest night of the year, all money raised goes towards sending the WPFG Club to The World Police and Fire Games and to the Burns Unit at The Women's and Children's Hospital. Guests watch the firefighters rock the stage and vote for their favourites. Mr July – Nick, was ‘Hall of Flame’, Mr June - Gavin, had ‘The Best Body’ and Mr December - Ryan, had 'The Best Smile’. Mr October - Paul, was an inspiration after being hit by a car and breaking his leg in five places, he used the calendar as a reason to get better in half the time. 2016 welcomed Carly and Catherine! This was the first year women were involved in the calendar. If you missed the 'Hall of Flame' Calendar launch, then you missed the hottest night of the year, but you can still purchase a calendar. Help send South Australia's Firefighters to the World Police and Fire Games in 2017 by purchasing a calendar."

"Acquapole Australasia & The Parafield Gardens Swim School were thrilled to be a part of the SA Firefighters Calendar Launch night. The firefighters organized a wonderful evening and we had a fantastic time showcasing an Acquapole routine on stage. We have currently raised $700 for The Women’s & Children’s Burns Unit and hope to help the WPFG Club raise more money through their calendar sales and events in the very near future. Congratulations on a superbly organized event."

    Kym A'Court (Acquapole Australasia)

"Sirens, smoke, flashing lights and then the Firies. If you want to see some performance art with a touch of heat then settle in and watch what our Fire Departments finest have to offer to the tune of Mission Impossible and some fine dance moves. The ladies were equally impressive with a spectacular gymnastic routine and dance moves! We had Austin Powers, Roman Soldiers, Mickey Mouse and muscles everywhere!!! If you want a night of entertainment and men & women stripped down (almost) then put 2018 in your calendar and support the hotties of Adelaide’s Fire Department.
