Every two years since 1991 the South Australian Firefighters Club have produced the very popular South Australian Firefighters Calendar, featuring some of South Australia's finest Firefighters.
Our Club is made up of South Australian current serving and retired Firefighters. The calendar is 100% a South Australian Product. We utilise/support local SA small businesses in all areas involved to create the calendar and running of the club. It is photographed around Adelaide at popular and iconic locations by one of South Australia’s finest photographers. It is designed by an up and coming South Australian graphic designer and is printed at a leading South Australian owned printer. With this in mind we have teamed with Brand SA to further our commitment to the State and make the community aware they are supporting real South Australian Firefighters and a Charity located on home soil. We also attend and help out with a variety of other charity events where our services can benefit other, e.g. Little Heroes Foundation’s annual Mother’s Day Luncheon + more.
Sale of the calendar helps sponsor our members to attend the World Police and Fire Games and represent our State. The WPFG are a biennial event that is said to be the second largest sporting event outside the Olympic games. It attracts Firefighters, Police and emergency service personnel from all around the world to the multi-sport event. The games caters for both active and retired personnel, giving our members a goal and focus and an outlet from service to the community.
Part proceeds of each calendar sale is donated to the burns unit of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital through Team Kids and since 1991 we have donated well in excess of $420,000. This money is used by the ward to procure vital equipment such as a dermatome machine, a skin graft machine, special beds, a specialised shower trolley and the latest procurement - a laser pulse machine.
This campaign we are increasing our donation network to incorporate The Beach Hotel Project. The holiday home will be a special place for children who not only require palliative care, but also those suffering other life limiting or long term chronic illness, and their families to relax and create happy memories together.
